Reward for Recycling

Oakland and Genessee county already use this program set up by Richfield Management, now Emterra Environmental USA.  The program utilizes Radio Frequency Identification chips to track home owners recycling habits and rewards them accordingly.  The program utilizes local businesses to hand out coupons and discounts to those participating in the Rewards for Recycling program and is a great incentive for families to recycle their waste.

Emterra Environmental USA, a family owned and operated company, is a leader in providing trash collection and recycling services to municipalities, individual residents, businesses and institutional customers. Our view of waste management means maximizing recycling and waste diversion.

Whether you see it as garbage, waste, trash, rubbish or junk, we see waste another way – as a resource to be collected and recycled into new, usable products.

Emterra offers innovative, cost effective, resource management solutions that increase diversion and save money.

I would like to see this program availabe to Macomb County residents, all Michigan Residents and eventually accross the U.S.

Only 37% of Michigan residents have access to recycling programs!

Michigan can do better!

With only 20% recycling rate here in Michigan, we can do so much better. Governor Rick Snyder released his blueprint for Michigan's energy and environmental plans for the near future.

Snyder quotes: "This year, my administration will examine possible options to get Michigan to where it needs to be on recycling, and I'll be coming back to you with a comprehensive plan in 2014." Let's hope he holds true to his word and brings Michigan up to speed in regards to recycling.

With only 37% of Michigan residents have access to curbside recycling, the lowest percentage of all the states in the region, according to the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality (MDEQ).

U.S. to become biggest oil producer in near future

U.S. to become biggest oil producer in near future

The United States will overtake Saudi Arabia to become the world's biggest oil producer before 2020, and will be energy independent 10 years later, according to a new forecast by the International Energy Agency.

The United States currently imports around 20% of its total energy needs.  The U.S. is currently experiencing an oil boom, from 2008 to 2011 the U.S. crude oil production jumped 14% according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration.  Natural gas is up by about 10% over the same period.

When you talk about oil, fuel economy standards almost always go hand in hand.  New fuel economy standards in the U.S. and efforts by China, Japan and the European Union are helping to reduce demand on energy all while making up for a disappointing decade for global energy efficiency.

#recyclemichigan

Lets REthink how #michigan can REduce, REuse & #REcycle!

Michigan needs a better recycling plan, #recyclemichigan is here to gain awareness on this pressing matter.  With space limited these days in landfills, not to mention the methane gas released by decomposing garbage.  Recycling is our only option if we are going to become self sustainable and make Michigan a Greener place to live.
